About Ilia

Ilia strives to create memorable, compelling learning experiences for students through interaction and various forms of communication.
After transitioning from a business career to education, he's been teaching at one of the top schools in Bangkok for seven years,
starting with a homeroom teacher position, then becoming head of Digital Technology department. He currently lives in Phuket, teaching
Astronomy, Design and Technology, Robotics and Science at an international school.
A source of motivation for Ilia is witnessing young students choosing to pursue "hard" technical and science disciplines and
achieving success in these subjects, as well as seeing his students competing in and winning coding and robotics contests.
Ilia's research interests include AI and Technology in Education, and he considers it is his mission to make our society more technologically advanced.
Technology in Education
A true culture of innovation starts in the classroom. When students see technology not just as a tool but as a creative playground, learning becomes exciting, flexible, and full of discovery.
Ilia helped launch iPad programs in two schools, working with leadership teams, teachers, and IT staff to turn big tech ideas into real learning experiences. As a Google Workspace admin and lifelong tech enthusiast, he believes the magic doesn’t come from the gadgets themselves — it comes from how thoughtfully they’re used.
For Ilia, technology should adapt to the school’s teaching style, not the other way around. Every app, iPad, or platform should serve the mission of empowering students, supporting teachers, and connecting parents. When used well, these tools boost engagement, make learning personal, and bring out the best in everyone.
Training and community are just as important as the tech. Ilia regularly leads sessions for teachers, parents, and students to help them explore new digital tools with confidence. His goal: to make innovation part of everyday school life — natural, inspiring, and always evolving.
Looking ahead, Ilia sees AI and immersive learning transforming classrooms even further. The future of education is personalized, creative, and inclusive, and he’s excited to help shape it.
Teaching Philosophy
Ilia’s classroom is built on constructivist values, a space where students learn by doing, questioning, and creating. He believes that every learner brings a unique voice, choice, and sense of ownership to the learning process. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia idea of "a hundred languages of children," Ilia strives to understand and celebrate each student’s way of expressing curiosity and meaning.
Technology, in his view, is not just a subject but a medium for empowerment. It allows students to design, build, and explore what truly engages them. When his students create something new, whether a robot, a digital story, or a code that solves a real problem, Ilia sees Rousseau’s vision of innate human goodness come alive through innovation.
Because today’s world evolves faster than ever, Ilia encourages his students to focus on concepts rather than just tools or trends. Guided by Dewey’s belief that education should be rooted in experience, he uses project-based learning to make abstract technology human and warm. His goal is to help students connect ideas, express empathy through creation, and feel the joy of shaping their own future.
