Design and Technology Lesson on Electric Circuits

One advantage of teaching technology is the tangible nature of student work. In this lesson, a hands-on circuit-building group task lets pupils self‑assess quickly and adjust their learning with minimal teacher input. Alongside the build, several formative checks inform my support and extension: a quick Electronic Components Symbols game to assess prior knowledge, observation of mind‑mapping and class discussion, and ongoing questioning. At the end, pupils complete a short online quiz and reflect on their level of performance to strengthen metacognition. I analyse Moodle quiz responses to evaluate progress against objectives and plan next steps.
