Design & Technology – Sustainable Products for Real‑World Needs
Design and technology project on sustainable products addressing a real‑world problem
This Year 10 Design & Technology lesson challenges students to design innovative solar‑powered products that can improve quality of life in less economically developed countries (LEDCs). By combining core design principles with authentic contexts, the lesson strengthens subject knowledge and drives meaningful learning—students see how ideas turn into useful products that matter.
The project is structured to promote creativity and innovation while keeping purpose at the center: needs analysis, concept generation, rapid prototyping, and evaluation against sustainability and usability criteria. I plan to continue integrating real‑world challenges into the curriculum to deepen engagement and improve learning outcomes.
